| Mode Of Action | Inhibiting the synthesis of thyroid hormone within the thyroid gland by serving as substrates for thyroid peroxidase. Thyroid peroxidase catalyzes the integration of oxidized iodide into tyrosine residues in thyroglobulin molecules and couples iodotyrosines. |
| Drug Indication | Hyperthyroidism; as an adjunct to improve hyperthyroidism situation in preparation for surgical treatment or radioactive iodine therapy; when thyroidectomy is contraindicated or not advisable. |
